On Tuesday, September 25, SureID welcomed over 60 people to our new Portland offices, where our team showcased the advanced technology we are using to revolutionize the biometrics industry. On deck were new biometrics terminals, giveaways every half hour, and a fingerprinting speed contest that pitted employees against local tech entrepreneurs and angel funders, alongside in-person discussions of up-and-coming innovations from SureID tech leaders.
Tech leaders from across the Portland region made this a must-see event; attendees ranged from venture capitalists to tech CEOs to local Chamber of Commerce members.
“What an amazing journey you all have been on,” said Eric Rosenfeld, co-founder of the Oregon Venture Fund. “It’s great to see a resurgent SureID.”
The evening showcased the updated SureID customer experience and a variety of innovations. Positive customer quotes filled whiteboards, and SureID team members brought family from across the Portland region to experience the kiosks now deployed nationwide. A convivial mix of tunes spun by DJ Hypnos enlivened an evening that included Portland microbrews, wine and cheese, and introductions to the SureID leadership team.
New General Manager Ned Hayes also introduced the SureID team to local decision-makers and entrepreneurs. Loni Sanders, the Membership Director for the Tigard Chamber of Commerce, said, “It’s really fascinating to experience what it’s like to use your technology. We are lucky to have you here, and we’re very happy to welcome the team to our business community.”
Jerry Gaube, Director of Membership for the Technology Association of Oregon, tested a fingerprint kiosk. “What an interesting pivot point for an interesting company,” Gaube told a fingerprinting technician. “It’s great to see a revitalized SureID change how we think about fingerprints and other biometrics, and even identity.”
Sterling Talent Solution’s Chief Innovation Officer, Lou Paglia, was instrumental in the new direction for SureID. Paglia said: “One year ago, Sterling made the decision to bring SureID into our organization. I’m excited to see the amazing progress the team has made over the last year, and we’re looking forward to SureID delivering even more in fingerprinting, biometrics and identity leadership in the coming year.”
And what a year we have planned! GM Ned Hayes also has a positive perspective on the future. “The SureID team is already transforming the fingerprinting industry with the best technology and service available,” he explained to the crowd of people in our demo room. Pointing to our stellar customer success and the top-notch technology available that night, he reminded everyone to “keep watching us for more positive disruptions in biometrics and identity validation.”
Shashi Jain, an Intel Innovation Leader and a well-known startup advisor, won one of our new tech door prizes. Jain said he can’t wait to see what’s next. “Innovative technology and great people – with an awesome company culture plus cool tech like this, anything is possible!” High praise indeed, and a great moment on which to bring the evening to a close.
