It was a typical Monday for Maria, one of our Client Services and Field Operations specialists, when a Pennsylvania construction company reached out for help. They had just won a contract that required their workers to have security clearances. Although they’d met all the local requirements, one hurdle remained—FBI background reports for any employees working on the job site. The company needed a quick turnaround so their team could get to work.
Maria, of course, was ready to help!
The Sterling Identity Process
In a quick call with the company’s office manager, Maria explained Sterling Identity’s patented fingerprinting process. We use three simple steps.
Step 1: Register for an FBI background report
First, the office manager needed each employee to fill in the details required for a background report. We make this easy with an online form available at fingerprints.sterlingidentity.com. When done, each employee would receive a confirmation email with a scannable registration code and a link to our Sterling Identity Network Kiosk locator.
Step 2: Submit fingerprints
Next, employees would need to bring two forms of ID from our online list of acceptable documents to their chosen Sterling Identity Network Kiosk location. There, the employee scans the code, verifies their identity with a technician, and works with the technician to capture acceptable fingerprints. Sterling Identity would then forward all information to the FBI to complete the report request.
Step 3: Get results
Finally, Maria explained, the appropriate individual would receive the FBI report results, usually within 24 hours of the request being submitted.
Getting Results Fast!
The office manager recognized that Sterling Identity’s service was just what the construction company needed. So, we jumped into action! We directed the employees to register online and even found the closest Sterling Identity Network Kiosks for them to use. Since we know that people like construction workers who do heavy work with their hands often have trouble capturing good prints, Maria asked them to give her a call when they reached the location. Together with a technician, Maria walked each worker through the fingerprinting process to ensure we captured prints that the FBI would accept.
But these results were faster than even we could have expected.
“As soon as the first worker finished, I assisted the second with the fingerprinting process,” Maria said. “While the second employee was capturing prints, the first one received his FBI report.”
And it didn’t stop there. In less than two days, Maria helped a total of 12 employees get their FBI reports at lightning speed. “Each report was ready before I could even look it up in our system,” she said. “The average result time was less than five minutes for the people I assisted.”
In short, the construction company went from worrying about whether they could get reports in on time to having them in-hand in about two days—an incredible result they’d thought was impossible.
Maria, though, saw herself as the lucky party in this project. “It was an excellent experience to help customers through every step of the process,” she told us. And then, she went back to the call queue.
That’s the kind of service Sterling Identity is proud to provide. We pride ourselves in making fingerprinting convenient, quick, secure, and comfortable. For this customer, we’re proud to say that we delivered in record time!
