Biometrics and Privacy: Part of the Solution

  • February 14, 2019
  • News, Trends

Biometrics are big in news these days.  Lately, there’s been a lot of concern around privacy.  From concerns about how government agencies might make use of home security cameras to worries about fingerprint hacks that can fool the naked eye, recent news cycles revolved around privacy concerns and biometrics.

SureID stays on top of these kinds of stories because, as leaders in the field of identity and biometrics, we take privacy very seriously. We don’t fool around where a person’s personally identifiable information (or PII, as the industry calls it) is concerned. In our privacy policies, you’ll find everything you need to know about the data we collect, what we use it for, and how we keep it out of the hands of others.

We know privacy is a big concern, especially as more businesses and agencies use biometrics for their employees and customers. As our GM, Ned Hayes, says, people worry that “technology has potentially swamped that right to privacy.” Not at SureID, though.  Here, we make sure humans are part of the privacy loop, and we follow all of the other suggestions our GM makes in the Help Net Security article linked below.

Privacy is a concern that will only grow as more private information is digitized. At SureID, we plan to be part of the privacy solution. Read on to find out how we’re setting the privacy standard for biometric collection.
